Three fairly new Writing Spaces
The three writing spaces I use most frequently are facebook, gmail, and Microsoft word. Facebook is something we are all familiar with. A social networking site that where we can see what our friends are up to at all times. We can even tell our friends how we are feeling. The question that comes up is “What is on your mind?” This is where we can let our friends know what we are up to. This is unique because even if your friends live far their status is updated and you can find out what they are doing and even comment on it. People will have full conversations on some statuses. Gmail is my email account other than my Rowan account. I have all “important” messages sent here. My wordpress account is actually through gmail. I send out some emails to my family who live far away if I do not feel like picking up the phone and calling them. I also get notifications from facebook in my gmail account. Microsoft word is something almost everyone uses. We write our papers then upload them to certain sites so our professors can read them. It is a reliable writing space because it will pick up on grammar errors as well as spelling errors. This is very helpful for me because I am not the best speller.
According to the reading I think facebook remediate the oral word because instead of calling someone we can just look at their facebook page and see what they are up to. We can have conversations through their status updates. The written word is seen more as it should be. Gmail has also remediated the spoken word. Instead of calling someone to find out how their day is going just send them an email. Most likely they will respond and a conversation is produced. A lot of people have computers so facebook and gmail are possible. These two are good writing spaces for people who do not like to talk on the phone and for people who do not want to write letters. All you have to do is backspace what you wrote if you do not like how it turned out. You can produce your very own email to someone and say exactly what you want without fear if you wrote something that could hurt someone.
